Q: When would I need to consult a data recovery company?

A: When your data is invaluable and can no longer be accessed by yourself.

Q: How does it work, what is the normal procedure?
We would require the damaged device to be brought in to us for book-in, assessment and quotation.

Q: How long does it take?

A: The average recovery takes between 1 and 3 days. A recovery can however take as little as a couple of hours to as long as a few weeks depending on the damage to the device or the difficulty level involved. A RAID system would take days compared to a single drive.

Q: Can you retrieve data in all cases?

A: There are situations where no data can be salvaged and in these situations we do not charge.

Q: Can you guarantee confidentiality of my information?

A: Yes, our dedicated team are professionals working in a secure environment under non-disclosure. You can therefore be assured that we will do all in our power to firstly retrieve and secondly return your data in full confidentiality. We do also provide confidentiality agreements on request.

Q: Should I try to recover the data myself?

A: No. Our team has extensive training and expertise on recovering data. Attempts of recovery by a non-qualified person can result in further data loss and will also hinder the recovery of data by us.

Q: How much does it cost to recover the data?

A: Costing on data recovery is dependent on the size of the drive, the damage to the drive and the length of time and difficulty involved. This is why we do not charge an assessment fee or a quotation rejection fee and every single job brought to us is a challenge, not a free lunch.

Q: Should I open my drive if it is making strange noises?

A: You should NEVER open your drive as the platters within the drive will be subject to the elements. Air on the platters will degrade the data.
The surface area is highly magnetic and you will run the risk of contaminating the disk with foreign particles.
